LG Electronics announced on Sept. 21 that it has released three new low-priced laptops for the new school term and a holiday. The new models are distribution products in its lineup of popular ultra-light “Gram” laptops. Their factory prices are 520,000 won (US$442), 890,000 won (US$756), and 990,000 won (US$841) according to specifications.

The 13.3 inch Ultra PC can easily be taken anywhere, as it measures only 19.6 mm at its thickest point and weighs a scant 1.35 kg. It offers support for NAND flash storage such as a solid-state drive (SSD) and embedded Multi Media Card (eMMC).

With the Intel processor, which doesn’t require a CPU cooling fan, the Ultra PC has reduced weight, thickness, and noise levels. Also, it has a full HD resolution screen, five hours of battery life, and 2GB to 4GB of memory.

Its most convenient features, though, are Open Booting, which means that the laptop is set to automatically turn on when opening the notebook, even without pushing the power button. It also has Reader Mode, which relieves eye strain when reading materials written in tiny lettering. Finally, the third convenient feature is Face In, which connects with the computer in face recognition mode instead of using a password.
