LG Display has promised technical cooperation on OLED with its partner companies.

On Sept. 15, LG Display held the 2015 LG Display Tech Forum, titled "New Opportunities and Challenges in OLED," and invited its partner companies such as Merck, Asahi Glass, and Sumitomo Corporation to a company factory in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. Representatives of 13 partner companies in the fields of materials, processing, glass, and electric circuits attended the forum, promising to share information on market trends and the direction of the development of Korean company's OLED and LCD technology, and to cooperate in future technologies.

In particular, the LCD panel maker announced its business strategy to greatly decrease the weight of OLED panels, and discussed future technologies and product development with its business partners.

In addition, LG Display created the Technology Innovation Award starting this year, presenting awards to Asahi Glass, Merck, and Nitto Denko Corp. for their contributions to improving product performance of LG Display with innovative technology.

"LG Display has been able to  write the history of OLED with the world's first technology, thanks to the valuable efforts and active cooperation of our partner companies," said Han Sang-beom, CEO and president of LG Display. He added, "I hope that we will continue to change and grow, so that we can lead the display market in the future as well, based on each company's R&D competitiveness and creativity."
