Game Investment

On Sept. 8, global mobile messaging platform Line announced that it forged a strategic partnership with Chinese game developer Locojoy to raise game-only investment funds through joint investment.

Locojoy is the company behind Master Tanker 1, which scored 2 million daily active users for the first time in China, recorded 20 billion won in sales per month, and attracted 100 million gamers. The Chinese firm is also the developer and publisher of Master Tanker 2, which nabbed the top spot in six categories on the App Store charts in China, only 34 hours after its launch.

The Chinese company set up a local branch in Korea in July last year, and changed the name of its branch to Locojoy International after acquiring EnusTech last July. Since then, it has been offering games like Legend of Stickman.

Through this strategic partnership, Line and Locojoy are planning to create investment funds for games, make an investment in mobile game developers with the capability to develop excellent games, and provide support for growing the ecosystem for games.
