The Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs announced on Aug. 4 that the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation (President Kim Young-chul) was picked as the top organization among 334 regional public enterprises with business performances evaluated at this year’s management assessment.
The corporation received a medium grade last year. However, it succeeded in moving up two notches to the top this time by increasing the sales of Jeju Samdasoo mineral water by 17.9 percent, assisting in the employment of the less privileged and young job seekers, fostering a transparent and customer-centered corporate culture, and returning 53 percent of its gains back to the local community in the interests of sharing and co-prosperity.
The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation proceeded with its efforts for innovation in the first half of this year, too. During the period, its net profits and sales increased by 63 percent and 17 percent from a year ago, respectively. “I’d like to appreciate each and every resident in Jeju Province who supported us to win this prestigious award,” President Kim Young-chul said, adding, “We will continue to work hard so that we can better live up to the regional community’s expectations for ourselves.”
