SK C&C, the system integration arm of SK Group, said on July 30 that it got a license from Vietnam to build an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) for a Vietnamese highway, following those in Azerbaijan and Mongolia.

The company expects the establishment of ITS to reduce traffic accidents and ease congestion on a 105 km highway that will cross the country's capital city of Hanoi and the northern port city of Hai Phong. The highway is scheduled to open next year.

The Vietnamese government is planning to build the highway as part of modernizing the country's highway infrastructure. The 105 km highway is planned to open in March 2016.

SK C&C will incorporate the ITS platform into toll gates and closed-circuit televisions on the highway to collect real-time traffic information. All the traffic information will be shared via the Internet. The company added that drivers can check traffic information also on electronic display boards on the highway.
