Seoul to Incheon Express

Airport Railroad said on May 25 that if faster new trains with a maximum speed of 150 kilometers per hour are introduced in 2025, train delays during rush hours are expected to be reduced to four minutes from the current five minutes.

The new trains will be able to arrive at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 Station from Seoul Station in 30 minutes.

Airport Railroad will hold an exhibition to showcase the interior and exterior of the new trains to the general public from May 25 through 29. While Korea has the experience of exporting 150-kilometer-per-hour urban railway trains overseas, this will mark the first time for the speedy train to actually be used for transportation services in Korea.

Airport Railroad explained that it was doing its best to ensure passenger safety through close collaboration with train manufacturer Hyundai Rotem and an independent safety assessment of the trains. An independent safety assessment is a system assurance activity conducted by a separate verification company to ensure that the trains meet legal requirements and international standards.

A total of nine new trains will run one after another by the end of 2025. Airport Railroad expects to see all trains run at 150 kilometers per hour by 2030.
