On July 17, LG Electronics announced that the success of the G4 in taking aerial pictures of Tel Aviv, Israel from a drone in June, in line with the release of the new model, is creating a great sensation in the country.

LG installed the G4 on a drone, which filmed several places in Tel Aviv from a drone 100 meters up that flew for 17 hours. Vivid and clear images of the city's landmarks shot by the smartphone have been met with a very positive consumer reaction. Those images have attracted more than 500,000 views on Facebook so far, and thereby the handset's camera, optical image stabilization (OIS) 2.0, and battery functions are once again in the spotlight. Compared to its predecessor, the sale of the new model is sharply increasing in Israel as a result.

Normally a special camera is used to shoot images from a drone, since the drone shakes quite a bit. Moreover, a drone shoot requires a long time and a great distance from the subject. The G4 was able to overcome these difficult shooting conditions thanks to its 40 percent larger image sensor, lens with f/1.8 aperture, and OIS 2.0, which reportedly expands the range of image stabilization from one degree to two degrees on the X and Y-axes, and adds a third axis as well. Its color spectrum sensor is capable of expressing color vividly by precisely reading the RGB values of the ambient light in a scene and the infrared light reflected from objects. And its 3,000mAh battery can go the distance.

In April, the Korean Android phone maker also succeeded in aerial photography of Sidney, Australia with the G4 from a drone, prior to the launch of the handset, which received a very positive reaction from major media organizations and customers.
