Apple's share of the Korean smartphone market fell to the single digits for the first time after the introduction of the iPhone 6.

According to market research firm ATLAS Research & Consulting on July 14, Apple accounted for 9.9 percent of the Korean market in the first week of July, down 1.3 percent from the previous week.

The iPhone 6 failed to enter the top 10 smartphone sales rankings last week. As a result, the iOS device maker did not maintain a double-digit market share, which it captured after rolling out the iPhone 6. The failure can be ascribed to an increasing number of consumers who are waiting for the soon-to-be-released iPhone 6S, rather than buying the iPhone 6 right away. The iPhone 6S is expected to be launched in Sept.

Samsung Electronics, on the other hand, witnessed its nine models included in the top 10. In addition, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth spots were all taken by Samsung phones three weeks in a row. Its share was 67.6 percent, up 2.8 percent from a week ago. The 32GB Galaxy S6 offered by SKT and LG U+, the Galaxy Grand Max (SKT, KT), and the Galaxy A5 (LG U+) were included in the top 5.

LG Electronics only placed the G4 in the top 10 in the first week of July, just like the last week of June. The handset maker made up 20.8 percent of the market, down 1.4 percent from the previous week. However, LG constituted 20 percent of the total for the second consecutive week.
