The 7th K-Beauty Expo will take place in KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, from Sept. 17 to 20. The registration for early admission ended successfully, and general admission will be open until July 31.

Organized by the Government of Gyeonggi-do and sponsored by KINTEX and KOTRA, the K-Beauty Expo is famed for bringing the largest number of companies in the beauty industry in the country. The event is also known for high rate of returning participants. Last year (2014), the K-Beauty Expo conducted the largest volumes of export consultations (which resulted in turnover of about 51.3 billion won, or US$45.0 million) and earned a reputation as the most fruitful exhibition. Given the rising number of foreign participants, the organizer plans to accommodate them by consulting commerce sections of embassies in Korea. Overall, the K-Beauty Expo is becoming the most important beauty expo in Asia.

In a bid to promote foreign export opportunities for Korean companies in the beauty industry, the beauty expo solicited assistance from KOTRA and conducted an investigation into the pool of prospective foreign participants. As a result, the organizer could hear positive responses from 271 foreign buyers, including Alibaba, China’s largest e-commerce company; SASA, Hong Kong’s largest cosmetics retailer; Manning, Hong Kong’s largest drugstore; and the director of H&M, the global SPA brand. The organizers will select 150 of these potential participants based on the size of the turnover, purchasing power, and product preferences. With them, the EXPO organizers plan to run one-on-one business talks.

Prior to the event, the organizers will contact foreign buyers to arrange a schedule for one-on-one talks with local companies. By facilitating the exchange of products and specific preferences in advance, the organizers aim to meet the specific business needs of parties involved and work to realize the “fruits” of these on-site talks.

In addition, this year, in a bid to increase the chances to break into new markets, the K-Beauty Expo is cooperating with the Foundation for Cooperation among Small, Medium and Large Companies. In order to facilitate briefings, and B2B consultations, the Expo will invite marketing directors from large retail companies in Korea.

Every year, K-Beauty Expo brings 40,000 domestic and foreign participants. This year, there will be 400 companies and 600 booths. As an event optimized for marketing, publicity, and communication, the event will offer separate concurrent events and prizes for business participants apart from those for regular visitors. Prizes for the ceremonial events will consist of innovative products from participating companies.

An official for the event said: “62 percent of applicants for participation in the event this year are returning enterprises. The phenomenon is encouraging, as it indicates that the past expo had helped local businesses in substantive ways. This year, we will continue to focus on bringing substantive results. Overall, we will make every effort to make the K-Beauty EXPO the most significant marketing player that represents the beauty industry in Asia.
