The Samsung Group’s major subsidiaries are to open its patents at the Creative Economy Innovation Center in Daegu.
The center announced on June 20 that it will open 38,000 registered patents that are owned by Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics.
Among them, 3,400 patents in the mobile devices, display, communication, semiconductor, energy, and medical devices sectors will be provided free of charge.

The institutions suggested a plan to open the patents that includes technical commercialization, patent transfer commissions, preferential treatment guarantee to support commercialization, and business recommendations. The Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center is planning to combine open patents and each institution’s support plans as a package, connecting the commercialization after transferring patents.
