Skytrax World Airline Awards
Asiana Airlines (CEO Kim Soo Cheon) was recognized as the world's best for its economy class services and in-flight meals by Skytrax, a commercial airlines research institute.
Asiana Airlines took prizes for the World’s Best Economy Class and the World’s Best Economy Class Onboard Catering at the 2015 Skytrax World Airline Awards ceremony at the International Paris Air Show, which was held at the Air and Space Museum on June 16 (local time).
In particular, Asiana Airlines has won the World’s Best Economy Class award for a second straight year. The carrier is highly regarded for its differentiated economy class services, including comfortable seats and various in-flight entertainment, by all customers, foreign and Korean alike.
Also, Asiana Airlines has taken the initiative in globalizing Korean food with its popular in-flight Korean dishes such as nutritious sambap, or lettuce wraps, tofu bossam or tofu and boiled pork wraps, and samgyejuk or chicken porridge, winning the World’s Best Economy Class Onboard Catering.
Moreover, Asiana Airlines has ranked as a 5-star airline for nine years in a row since 2007. Currently, only seven airlines in the world are certified as 5-star airlines, and Asiana Airlines is the only one in Korea.
Established in 1989, Skytrax is a United Kingdom-based consultancy that conducts service quality inspections and research for airlines and airports worldwide. In particular, the Skytrax World Airline Awards is one of the most prestigious awards in the airline industry. Skytrax has selected winners every year since 2000 based on surveys and evaluations from international travelers.
