LG Electronics announced that it has won an award for its new solar power system product, the Neon 2, at Intersolar 2015, the world’s leading solar power trade show, on June 11.

The Intersolar Award is organized by Intersolar Europe and given for innovative products and projects in solar energy solutions. It is selected by a judging panel, which is composed of experts in each sector, including solar energy academic circles and industry sources and media.

LG’s Neon 2 is a super high efficiency premium product that realizes the industry’s highest module efficiency level at 19.5 percent and 320 watts output based on an n-type wafer with a cell measuring 15.67 centimeters.

The company applied a Cello Technique that minimizes electricity loss by dispersing electricity passages in NeON2. Previous products only had 3 passages where electricity flowed, but NeON2 has 12 passages, which improves its module output.

LG Electronics won the same award with the Mono XTM NeON for its outstanding performance in 2013 for the first time among solar module makers based in the Asia-Pacific region.
