A 15-year Partnership with ADNOC

Samsung Engineering has won a pre-construction services (PCS) contract for the Hail and Ghasha gas field project in the United Arab Emirates.

Samsung Engineering has received a letter of award (LOA) from ADNOC, the UAE’s state-run oil company, regarding pre-construction services (PCS) for the Hail and Ghasha gas field project, according to the Financial Supervisory Services on Jan. 16.

The gas field project aims to develop two natural gas fields in Manaif, 250 km west of Abu Dhabi. The names of the gas fields are Hail and Ghasha, respectively. Natural gas drilled at sea is transported to land. Acid gases such as sulfur are removed from the natural gas to make it highly pure. The project is being promoted as part of ADNOC's low-carbon growth strategy.

Samsung Engineering set up a joint venture (JV) with France's Technip Energy and Italy's Technimon to win the PCS contract, which is worth US$80.7 million. Samsung's stake is US$27.2 million. The project will run for six months until July 16.

Samsung Engineering explained that its 15-year-long partnership with ADNOC had a positive effect on landing the order. The company first established a relationship with ADNOC in 2007 when it won the Borouge olefin conversion unit (OCU) project. Since then, the two have carried out 10 projects worth US$12 billion together.
