Recognized for Outstanding Performance

SK On's Super Fast (SF) Battery, the winner of the Best of Innovation Award at CES 2023

SK On, a battery subsidiary of SK Innovation, announced on Dec. 26 that it will showcase its high-tech batteries, including Super Fast (SF) Battery, the NCM9 Series and S-PACK, at CES 2023, which takes place in Las Vegas of the United States from Jan. 5, 2023.

The company's SF Battery is a high-nickel battery with 83 percent of nickel content. It enables an electric vehicle to travel more than 400 km on one single charge. With SK On’s special coating technology, it can be charged up to 80 percent in 18 minutes, making it the fastest charging battery among commercially available batteries at the moment.

Thanks to its high performance, the battery became the industry’s first product to receive the Best of Innovation Award in the "Embedded Technologies" category at CES 2023. It also won an Innovation Award in the category of “Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility.” Currently, this battery is used for Hyundai Motor Co.’s IONIQ 5 and Kia Corp.’s EV6, which both claimed the Best Cars of the Year 2021/2022.

NCM9 is a high-performance high-nickel battery with about 90 percent of nickel content. SK On developed NCM9 for the first time in the world in 2019. The higher the proportion of nickel, the longer mileage a battery has, but the disadvantage of poor safety was supplemented with SK On’s unique Z-folding technology.

NCM9 Battery won the Innovation Awards in the categories of “Embedded Technologies” and “In-vehicle Entertainment & Safety” at CES 2022. At CES 2023, NCM9+ Battery, with increased mileage and shortened charging time, nabbed the Innovation Award in the category of “Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility.”
