KEPCO will own and operate the “Amman Asia diesel internal combustion power station” at Al Manakher, Jordan which has the world’s largest electric power generation capacity, the company said on April 30.

The diesel power station’s electric power generation capacity is 573MW at maximum, which KEPCO will operate as an independent power producer (IPP) of Jordan, KEPCO said.

Having constructed the power station, KEPCO will operate it for 25 years, expecting US$3.2 billion of revenue in total.

The Guinness Book listed the power station as producing “the world’s largest” amount of electric power, KEPCO said.

KEPCO said now it generates 25 percent of Jordan’s entire electric power needs. KEPCO now operates two power stations in the country, as it also operates the Al Qatrana power station, which has electric power generation capacity of 373MW, the company said.
