Colombian Success

Based on the successful introduction of the transportation card system in Bogota, Colombia, LG CNS is aggressively seeking inroads into other Latin American markets.

The company announced that there was a discussion about a Korea-Colombia FTA and a cooperation plan in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry of LG CNS at a Korea-Colombia business forum being held in Colombia on April 18 (Korean time).

According to LG CNS, Colombia's President, Juan Manuel Santos, praised the successful implementation of Bogota’s transportation card system by the company in a speech. In response, Korean President Park Geun-hye also cited the company as one of the most successful economic cooperations in the speech.

As part of an economic mission, LG CNS President Kim Dae-hoon attended the forum and presented the “Korea-Colombia ICT cooperation plan,” suggesting the introduction of Korea's e-Government system to Colombia.

Kim said, “With a responsibility as the nation’s leading company in the IT service industry, we will make every effort to spread Korea’s advanced data communication technology to the entire region in Latin America based on Colombia in the future, including Chile, Peru, and Brazil.”

LG CNS won the Bogota contract to install a fare collection system in July 2011, and a contract for ICT education business in Dec. 2013.

Based on the successful case in Bogota, the company is aiming to win the projects in the smart transportation sector in Latin America, such as railway communication technology, an automatic fare collection system, an operation information system FMS, and an automatic door system.
