The Gwangju Summer Universiade organization kicked off an information and communication event named the Universiade Heads of Delegation (HOD) Meeting on Sunday, April 12. Over 110 delegates from 51 countries, including the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), took park in the first HOD Meeting.

During the preparations for the 28th Summer Universiade Opening Ceremony, the HOD Meeting will perform the role of a platform to showcase the Gwangju Universiade to the world and enable the participants to visit the host city and inspect the Universiade venues.

Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organizing Committee (GUOC) Secretary General Kim Yoon-suk said, “This meeting is the first official interaction channel for face-to-face communication between the delegates and the organization committee. Through this meeting we will provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date information so that the delegations can perform at their full best.”

FISU Secretary General Eric Saintrond also recognized the importance of the HOD meeting, saying, “The meeting is expected to work for athletes and officials as well as the National Sports Federations to inform them properly about the rules, standards, and specificities of our University Sports Events.”
