2.5 Times Faster Than Global Average

SK Telecom is the global No. 1 in 5G download speed.

SK Telecom is unrivalled in the world in terms of 5G mobile communication (5G) download speed.

The Korean mobile operator marked 469.9Mbps in average download speed, ranking first in the download speed category of the 5G Global Mobile Network Experience Awards 2022 hosted by Opensignal, a British market research firm. 

SK Telecom's download speed was about 2.55 times faster than the average speed (184.2Mbps) of global carriers. It was followed by LG U+ with an average download speed of 429.6 Mbps. Another Korean mobile carrier KT landed in fifth place with 381.9Mbps, preceded by Bulgaria’s Vivacom (422.2Mbps) and Sweden’s Tele2 (391.1Mbps) in third and fourth place, respectively.

In the 5G mobile communication average upload speed category, Swedish telecommunication company Telia was the fastest at 50.9 Mbps. Korea’s SK Telecom came in 7th place with 40.6 Mbps and LG U+ 16th place with 36.8 Mbps.

In terms of availability, which is the percentage of time that 5G mobile subscribers can access actual services, U.S. telecommunications company T-Mobile claimed first place with 40.4 percent. Among Korean mobile carriers, KT placed 6th with 33.1 percent, SK Telecom 7th with 32.5 percent and LG Uplus 10th with 28.2 percent.

In reach rates, T-Mobile ranked first with a score of 7.8 out of 10, SK Telecom tied for second, LG U+ tied for fourth, and KT placed sixth.

In game experiences, SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+ finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd. In video experiences, Tele2, Telia, and Slovenia’s Telemach nabbed high spots.
