The 168 MW solar power plant in Texas built by Hanwha Q Cells last year

Hanwha Q Cells attracted an investment of US$150 million on Sept. 8 to finance the construction of a battery energy storage system (ESS) plant in Texas. The investors are BNP Paribas and Credit Agricole CIB.

The plant in Hunt County is scheduled to be put into operation in December this year after construction initiation in January this year. A total of 380 MWh of batteries will be installed there, which can cover approximately 150,000 households.

At present, Hanwha Q Cells is planning to build 9 GW production facilities in Texas or South Carolina. The company recently submitted an LOI for a business of US$1.829 billion to the state government of Texas. In addition, the capacity of its module plant in Georgia is scheduled to be expanded from 1.7 GW to 3.1 GW next year.
