The Gwangju Summer Universiade organization kicked off an information and communication event named the Universiade Heads of Delegation (HOD) Meeting on Sunday, April 12. Over 110 delegates from 51 countries, including the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), took park in the first HOD Meeting.

LSIS Co., Ltd. saw their overseas sales increase over two times in the last 3 years. The company welcomes the growing results from its efforts in overseas markets.

It recorded a 111 percent growth in overseas sales, the first increase for the past 3 years, hitting a total gross of US$600 million, which covers more than 40 percent of company sales. LSIS used to have only 20 percent of its sales from overseas until 2012. But it has since been growing the percentages by about 10 percent every year, which increases total sales as well.

South Korea, China, and Japan had trilateral talks on the 12th to boost the three countries’ tourism, increasing visitor numbers among the three neighbors to up to 30 million in 2020, from about 20 million in 2014.

The 7th World Water Forum kicked off in Daegu on April 12 with an opening ceremony attended by 1,800 high-ranking international and domestic officials.

Under the slogan of “Water for Our Future,” the forum will take place until April 17 at the EXCO in Daegu and the HICO in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, with the core value of “Implementation.”

President Park Geun-hye will embark on a four-nation tour of South America later this month. The presidential tour is planned to expand Korea's economic influence in South America after her previous presidential trip which successfully created the second Middle East boom. Labor Slump Continues

South Korea's top 30 business groups only slightly increased the number of workers last year, industry data showed Wednesday. It indicated that the conglomerates seem to be not so willing to ease the country's prolonged labor market slump. 

According to the data by CEO Score, a local corporate researcher, the number of people employed by the country's 30 large business groups are added up to 1,023,574 as of the end of last year.
