About 50 business people including chairmen of big Korean business groups will accompany President Moon Jae-in’s official visit to the United States as an economic delegation at the end of this month, according to the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on June 23.

The list includes Park Yong-man, chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kwon Oh-hyeon, vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, Chung Eui-sun, vice chairman of Hyundai Motors, Chey Tae Won, chairman of the SK Group, Koo Bon-joon, vice chairman of the LG Group, Heo Soo-young, head of the Chemical Business Unit of the Lotte Group, Huh Chang-woo, chairman of the GS Group, Shin Hyun-woo, CEO of Hanwha Techwin, Park Jung-won, chairman of the Doosan Group, Cho Yang-ho, chairman of the Hanjin Group, Son Kyung-sik, chairman of the SK Group and Koo Ja-yeol, chairman of the LS Group. By company size, they are representatives of 11 large companies, 14 medium-sized enterprises, 22 small-sized enterprises and two government-run companies. Medium- and small-sized enterprises accounted for more than two-thirds of companies on the list.

With an eye towards selecting members of the business delegation to the US among those recommended by companies, the KCCI assembled a deliberation committee with representatives of major organizations like associations, and experts from research institutes and NGOs.

The committee, which consisted of private experts without government officials, finalized the list on June 20, taking into account investment in and trade with the US, US business results and business plans, and possibilities of cooperation in advanced new industries. The economic delegation will take part in the "Korea-US Business Summit" held by the KCCI and the Chamber of Commerce of the US in Washington, DC on June 28 (local time).
