KEPCO KPS held the 2017 New Year's kick-off meeting at the headquarters in Gwangju-Jeonnam Innovation City on January 2, attended by all executives and employees including President Choi Yeu-geun.

In his New Year’ s message on the same day, Choi said, “Fighting against hostile business environments at home and abroad, let’s have an enterprise-wide sense of crisis and turn crisis into opportunity through a conceptual shift, creative thinking and practice.”

In particular, Choi proposed the performance of customer-centered responsible maintenance, expansion of future growth engine projects, development of capability preparing for the future and reinforcement of sustainable bedrock as the company’s milestones for the future, asking its employees to actively put into action.

Meanwhile, KEPCO KPS announced that its new technology using its own Smart Phased array Acquisition and Evaluation system (SPAcE) obtained an international certification “EPRI PD” in November last year. This is the third achievement in the world after IHI SWT of the U.S. and Technatome of Spain.

As the KEPCO KPS Technology Research & Development Institute and the Nuclear Power Technology Service Center jointly succeeded in developing the SPAcE through five years of R&D and a year of international certification starting from 2011, the company has set a foothold to export the technology to the global market. A KEPCO KPS official said, “With the latest acquisition of the international certification, we are now able to easily tap into the global nuclear power and nuclear reactor test market, such as the U.S., China, Japan and the UAE, with our own technology and accumulated experience.”
