The KTX, or Korea’s bullet train route, will extend to Incheon Airport this year. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) announced that Seoul Metro’s Gyeongui Line will be complete, and with its completion the KTX rail will extend from Seoul Station to Incheon Airport.  Seoul Metro’s Gyeongui Line and the Incheon Airport Railroad Express, or AREX, will be connected with the addition of 2.2km of extended rail.

MOLIT announced on January 21 that in addition to the completion of the Gyeongui Line, five additional lines will be extended nationwide, covering an additional distance of 73.9km.

When the line completes, travelers from Busan and Gwangju will be able to transfer to Incheon Airport directly via Seoul Station without taking an airport bus.

According to a MOLIT source, “We will systematically execute our plan without a hitch, with our goal being to eliminate unnecessary travel, and maximize the efficiency and economical feasibility of railroad systems.”
