Mercedes-Benz and the Samsung Group are strengthening their partnership in many ways.

Mercedes-Benz Korea announced its strategy for the high-performance car market in the '50th Mercedes-AMG Anniversary Press Conference' at Munrae Factory of Daeseon Mill in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on November 30. Mercedes-AMG launched in 1967 is a high-performance sub-brand of Mercedes-Benz. Its cumulative sales in the Korean market in the first ten months of this year climbed 34% year on year to 2,359 units. Mercedes-Benz Korea is aiming to strengthen its position in the Korean high-performance car market by raising consumers’ awareness of AMG.

The key is to expand contact points with customers and provide special services for AMG customers only. In this regard, Mercedes-Benz Korea is collaborating with the Samsung Group in all directions. First, the name of the Everland Speedway will be changed to AMG Speedway starting next year as Mercedes-Benz Korea cut a deal with the Samsung C&T’s Resort Division on November 30. This means the creation of the world's first AMG track in Korea. The AMG Speedway will boast a lounge and other facilities for AMG customers only and offer a variety of programs including Driving Academy. Mercedes-Benz Korea and Samsung will also add benefits including using the lounge at the Speedway to the 'Samsung The One Mercedes' Credit Card released by Samsung Card last month.

Mercedes-Benz Korea will also expand its collaboration with the Samsung Group in product areas. "Mercedes-Benz has several companies such as Samsung, LG and SK as electronic parts suppliers," said Dimitris Psillakis, CEO of Mercedes Benz. "We are discussing other matters with Samsung." It is expected that more Mercedes-Benz vehicles will be loaded with components from the Samsung Group affiliates such as electronic parts from Samsung Electronics and batteries from Samsung SDI as well as those from Harman acquired by Samsung.
