After launching in the U.S. and Korean markets last year, Samsung Pay is planning to push into global markets in earnest this year.

Samsung Electronics will reveal Samsung Pay’s global service plans this year, and declare its intention to strengthen its top position by tapping into global markets at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, the largest mobile trade show to be opened on Feb. 22 (local time).

According to foreign media reports and industry sources on Feb. 12, Samsung electronics plans to unveil Samsung Pay’s global service plans at the Galaxy S7 launch event on Feb. 21, a day ahead of the MWC 2016, which takes place in Barcelona, Spain.

During an address at Samsung European Forum 2016 held in Monaco, Head of Samsung Pay Europe, Nathalie Oestmann said, “The company's payment services would be coming to the U.K. and Spain very soon this year." She also added more details, including the exact date, will follow at the MWC 2016.

Industry sources expect that Samsung Pay will start its services in the U.K. and Spain in the middle of next month with the release of the Galaxy S7 at the same time. Accordingly, Samsung Pay will expand its dominance to China, the U.K. and Spain as well as Korea and the U.S.
