The China Brand Research Center released the China Brand Power Index (C-BPI) for this year on Nov. 4. On the list, Apple beat Samsung Electronics to take the foremost place in the mobile category. Samsung had ranked first on it in both 2012 and 2013.

Apple adopted a large screen for its newest iPhone. The popularity of the latest model is soaring these days, as Apple has sold more than 39 million handsets between July and September this year. Market experts are estimating that the sales volume will reach 70 million between October and December, 40 percent higher than the previous quarterly record.

Samsung Electronics topped the list in the TV and monitor categories though. In particular, it retained the top spot in the TV segment for four consecutive years, and that in the monitor category for three years in a row. The company ranked third in digital video cameras, digital cameras, and laptops. Haier won the top spot in washing machines and refrigerators, while GREE beat all other competitors in air conditioners for four years in a row.

The survey was conducted from August 2013 to January 2014. In total, 13,500 people from 15 to 60 years old participated in the interviews in 30 cities across China.
