100x Faster Internet
SK Broadband announced on Oct. 13 that it will showcase the world's first 10 Gbps Internet service at the 2014 ITU Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-14) to be held in Busan from Oct. 20 to Nov. 7.
The new Internet service is 100 times faster than existing LAN services that deliver download speeds of 100 Mbps. It will be possible to download 1 GBs of content in 0.8 seconds using the new service. That is literally in the blink of an eye, since the average eye blink takes about 0.75 seconds. In contrast, it takes minutes to download the same content on today's LANs.
SK Broadband is planning to run a booth at the PP-14 to let people experience 10 Gbps Internet speeds and to demonstrate differences in Internet speeds by comparing 10 Gbps with 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps.
In addition, the company is going to unveil a 3D hologram, UHD multi-view service that shows UHD IPTV services and several full HD channels on one screen, and a multi-room IPTV service that can create an N screen in a wireless environment using up to 6 terminals.
