Koh Dong-Jin, president of mobile communication at Samsung Electronics raised expectations for an AI speaker which will be released in the first half of next year.

"We have been collaborating with Harman since its acquisition,” Koh said on Korean Media Day for the Galaxy Note 8 held at Seocho Office of Samsung Electronics on September 12.

A plan on the launch of Samsung's AI speaker was first mentioned during a press conference at the IFA 2017 press conference in Berlin, Germany earlier this month. "It is expected that a competitive AI speaker will be unwrapped next year under the leadership of Koh. I think that you may have much anticipation for the AI speaker,” said Yoon Boo-keun, president of the CE Business Division at Samsung Electronics who was at the press conference with president Koh. “I think it's going to be difficult to take the wrap off the AI speaker at the CES in Las Vegas in the US next January. Now that I am the CEO leading the AI speaker project so I have to do the work properly. The project will take some time to produce better results.”

The AI speaker is expected to be used not only for mobile interworking but also for home appliances of Samsung Electronics. "AI speakers will be included in all future consumer electronics products," said Doh Young-soo, a managing director of Samsung Electronics's home appliance division in a press conference with Korean reporters at the IFA 2017 in Berlin, Germany. "We are also working on researching voice recognition data technology based on cloud service."
