Samsung Electronics announced on July 25 that the company is making a 10-year warranty promotion about burn-in phenomena of premium QLED TVs all over the world that took place early this year.

Burn-in refers to a phenomenon in which if the same screen picture is showing on a TV screen or the same image such as a broadcaster logo is repeatedly exposed on a spot of the TV screen, the color of the picture or image is not properly displayed or the screen appears to be stained.

Samsung Electronics executed the promotion only in Korea and Europe until last year, but expanded its coverage areas to North America, Canada, and other parts of the world in consideration of consumer reactions.

Moreover, the company provides 5-year free warranties for problems other than burn-in on QLED TV screens. It is a very unusual case, considering that usually two-year warranties are applied to TV panels and one-year warranties to other parts such as motherboards.

"Quantum dot-based QLED TVs are very durable and extremely unlikely to show burn-in." said a representative of Samsung Electronics. "With strong confidence in QLED TV's product performance, we are offering a 10-year warranty for our QLED TVs around the world."
