Internet of Commodified Things
On Sept. 14, Samsung released the IoT Access Point that supports ZigBee, a global wireless standard to provide the foundation for the IoT, and Bluetooth low energy.
Wi-Fi, Zigbee, and Bluetooth represent about 70 percent of total wireless communication technologies for the IoT, and Samsung's new IoT Access Point supports all of them. Since it also supports 802.11ac, the device provides wireless LAN services to the tune of 1.3 Gbps speeds. It can be used to provide different kinds of IoT services, including the control of lighting and the management of energy in buildings.
The Korean tech giant also rolled out a mesh-type outdoor access point (model name: WEA463e), a successor to WEA453e, which was introduced early this year.
