Hankook Tire put a new plant into operation in Clarksville, Tennessee on October 17. The opening ceremony for the plant was attended by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Hankook Tire Worldwide CEO Cho Hyun-shik, Hankook Tire Vice Chairman Seo Seung-hwa, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe, etc.

The plant has an annual production capacity of 5.5 million tires and the items it produces include passenger vehicle tires, light truck tires and ultra high performance tires. The annual production capacity of the tire manufacturer has increased to 104 million units based on the opening of the plant. At present, Hankook Tire has manufacturing facilities in South Korea, Hungary, Indonesia and China as well as the United States.

Hankook Tire is planning to make use of the plant in Tennessee in penetrating the North American market as a whole. The plant is expected to contribute to the company’s logistics flow by covering every process ranging from R&D to production and marketing. In addition, it is expected to supply customized products in the North American market while expanding the company’s supply of premium original equipment tires to global automakers.
