GS Engineering & Construction (E&C) won a 240 billion won (US$221 million) order for bridge construction in Vietnam.

GS E&C announced on September 6 that it has won the 240 billion won (US$221 million) order for the Vam Cong Bridge project on September 5, commissioned by Vietnam’s Cuu Long CIPM, which is under the Vietnamese transport ministry. This order is won jointly with Hanshin Engineering & Construction.

The total construction cost is at 240 billion won (US$221 million) and GS E&C has an 80% share, which amounts to 191.5 billion won (US$176 million). The total construction period is 48 months and will be completed in September 2017.

The Vam Cong Bridge project is the construction of a 2.97 km cable-stayed bridge that crosses the Hau River in the Vam Cong region in Southern Vietnam. This will be an advanced bridge, with a central span of 450m. Central span, which is the distance between towers, is a measure of technology for cable-stayed bridges. This will be Vietnam’s second longest central span. Furthermore, the Vam Cong Bridge will adopt an H-shaped tower for scenic purposes, and is expected to become a regional landmark.
